The inventors’ story began at the time of the handheld computer\u00a0and a growing popularity amongst clinicians for pocket-sized calculators and for ready information resources such as drugs and\u00a0vaccine schedules. They saw\u00a0a gap in the delivery of\u00a0timely updates for management of infections\u00a0in their large academic hospital in\u00a0North Carolina. The solution was CustomID\u00ae which they first launched for PDA and later as a web app for display either via desktop or mobile internet browser.\u00a0Subsequently, in 2005,\u00a0the Dutch Working Party on Antibiotic Policy (SWAB)\u00a0licensed the CustomID\u00ae framework and installed their guide in 30 hospitals in the Netherlands. CCDS is now taking CustomID\u00ae for offering beyond the Duke enterprise.<\/p>\n
